1948 Harley-Davidson Panhead Model Engine. This is a beautiful piece long out of production and quite rare. The engine came in both kit and assemble versions and this is the assembled version - assembled in the Marushin factory. In this version, the motor unit, that forms the base, is included and is in an integrated silver color.

Note that the built engine does come with full "kit" instructions so one could disassemble and reassemble the engine, if desired. The engine is assembled over 300 precision diecast metal parts, miniature screws and nuts. The valvetrain, pistons, crank, chain, etc. All move as in the real engine.

Mounted on a metal stand, and operated through the an AC transformer (100-120v/50-60hz) and electric motor hidden in the base with a miniature throttle twist-grip. Listen to the revs rise and watch it shake just like the real one. Cutaway cylinders show internal operation. The air cleaner cover and valve covers are included in a separate blister pack with hardware for optional installation. Chain cover may also be removed for viewing internals. The sound maker connects to the back of the engine unit via a short cable. This cable was missing, but I was able to fabricate one using proper connectors. The engine/motor unit stacks on top of the sound effector for a nice overall look.

The sound is amazing and adds so much to the overall enjoyment and'coolness' of the model! If you do an internet youtube search for: "Marushin HD 1948 Panhead 1200 1/6" by Ivan Photography dated 11/21/2011 you can find a video of the engine running with a sound effector attached. I think you will agree that it is very impressive! The sound is sync'd with the throttle and the sound volume is adjustable via the knob on the effector.

Both the engine and sound effector are new - NOS. The boxes have only been opened and the units removed for photos and to assist in making the missing harness. All the original packing and instructions are included.
