HOn3 WSM C-16 2-8-0 No 278 and Loco Doc Motor Conversion Kit. This Westside C-16 has rarely been out of its box since I was given it 25 years ago.

I never got around to deploying it on my various HOn3 model railway attempts - I didn't want to use it as a test vehicle on railways that always seemed to be under construction. It was run for about a half hour 15 years ago on a test track and it ran well at that time.

However, considering its age the mechanism could use a good servicing. The photos will give you a good indication of the model's condition. A careful look at one photo will indicate that the bell rope has detached from the bell. The rope is there but I never got around to reattaching it.

The box shows a bit of shelf wear which is not surprising for a model that is over 40 years old. The red foam is in good condition with no tears or crumbling.

The C-16 comes with a Loco Doc Super Glide K-1 coreless motor conversion kit. According to the kit's instructions (included) the kit consists of a 7400 RPM Faulhaber motor, a new worm gear attached and a mounting bracket already fastened to the motor. The kit also includes a casting to go on the rear of the motor. I have included copies of a couple of "how-to" articles about installing the motor and painting the model. The item "HOn3 Westside Models C-16 2-8-0 No 278 and Loco Doc Motor Conversion Kit" is in sale since Saturday, December 18, 2021.
