Some folks might say it was assembled on a Friday or Payday & the assembly mechanic was just in a good mood or perhaps had just received a pay raise. This may have started out life as a spark ignition engine Has a Cam on the Crankshaft (photos 6 & 7) & possibly someone removed the Timer Arm Assembly or maybe they built both Ignition & Glow plug engines with the front Cam Gear I have no idea of the Orwich detailed history?
You can see remnants of left over factory green paint in (photo # 15 just below the exhaust). I see no factory serial numbers inside the rear cover of this one & it has an unusual center stud possibly for a vacuum fitting?
The Engine Block Casting (see photos 4 & 5) & the Rear Cover Casting both show factory pin holes, & the rear cover shows etching or flaking along the inside base & again quite an unusual casting however no thin metal in this area its a very thick casting no worries (see photos 8.9.10, & 11). No Orwich name stamped in the exhaust manifold above or below, the name can only be seen on the mounts. The polished cylinder head on this one has 11 rows of undamaged cooling fins & I have viewed other Orwick 29s with 13 rows of cooling fins? They also produced an Orwick in. The Steel Cylinder Cooling Fins number 6 total, & topping it all off is a Champion VG 2 Glow Plug. This would be an Excellent choice for the Collector to display & or the Mechanic that wants to add a Timer Arm Assembly, Repaint, or simply Run & Enjoy it as it is.
